Industrial drones can be part of everyday work while unfamiliar aircraft create a separate security concern. One manufacturing customer uses AirSentinel to improve visibility into both: the activity supporting the facility and the flights taking place around it.
A facility with two airspace priorities
The customer needed safety and security awareness around beyond-visual-line-of-sight drone operations, alongside visibility into third-party activity that had not been authorized by the facility. A useful deployment had to support legitimate work and help security personnel understand the wider airspace environment.
Coverage within and around the operating site
Multiple AMS sensors are deployed within and around the facility. The arrangement gives the organization observations from more than one location and a record of detected activity to support operational review. Current tracks help the team understand what is happening; accumulated observations provide context for how that activity develops over time.
Evidence for present operations and future planning
The customer is also collecting information in preparation for a potential future flight-restriction request associated with Section 2209. The value is an informed account of observed activity around the facility, alongside the site's broader operational and security planning. Data collection does not itself establish a flight restriction or confer operating authority.
The operational value
This deployment connects everyday airspace awareness with longer-term planning. The customer can support its own drone program while reviewing detected third-party activity through the same airspace intelligence capability. AirSentinel supplies observations for the people responsible for the operation; flight authorization and safety decisions remain with the appropriate parties.
